RV & Motor Home Reviews Home

StarCraft traces its history back to 1903, when the company was founded in Northern Indiana's Amish country. The headquarters remains in the territory today. StarCraft originally manufactured livestock tanks and other farming supplies. In the 1920s boats were added to the company line up. StarCraft started producing RVs in 1964; its first products a line of folding (pop up) camper trailers. Through the past four decades StarCraft has grown in the RV market and continues to produce watercrafts, truck campers, folding campers, popup campers, travel trailers, 5th wheels, and conversion vans. It is to note that the company does not manufacture Class A or Class C motor homes.

StarCraft Travel Trailers

The companies travel trailers may the name of StarCraft 2 Travel Trailer, XP, NXP or ST. Other series include Travel Star, Antigua, and Homestead Lite. StarCraft are the biggest line of trailers, while Antigua offers a line of expandable trailers that let you travel light but with the added security of a travel trailer. Travel Star is a line of very lightweight trailers. They feature fold-out bunk ends which allow for additional space with less trailer length. Many of these models are hybrid creations, formed from the concept of lightweight pop up campers and regular travel trailers. Aruba Lite and Homestead Lite are also built with light traveling in mind. How important is lightweight travel? Consider how expensive gas can be when towing anything and then consider that heavy trailers just make the vehicle go slower, requiring more engine power, which drastically increases the gas expense. Fifth Wheels are usually known to be much heavier trailers than the usual hitch and tow trailers; hence, the Homestead and Aruba lite fifth wheels are of particular interest.

Camping Trailers And Folding Campers

These are what got them started in the first place and they still continue to market StarCraft Camping Trailers and pop up campers today. Pop up trailers are ideal for storage and camping supplies; however, companies like StarCraft are now adding more advanced features to such simple designs. There is a surprising amount of room in the interior including sliding dinettes as well as a toilet and shower. The Pine Mountain line of campers are somewhat uncomfortable and small-but on the other hand, they are just campers! It's remarkable that they could fit a toilet and shower, bedroom and mini  into such an otherwise small product.

Starcraft's website can be found at StarCraftRV.com and features photographs of their various campers, trailers and fifth wheels as well as specifications.  There is also a search feature to help you locate StarCraft RV dealers all around the country.
